Tepper Isn't Going Out: A Novel Tepper Isn’t Going Out: A Novel by Calvin Trillin

My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Yeah… This was a clever book, and I definitely laughed out loud in parts (being a former New Yorker, anything that really nails New York can do that for me), but I found this book was perhaps a bit too clever for its own good. A guy sits in his parked car, reading the paper, but never going out… and people start to think he’s got it all figured out? Yeah, maybe in New York. In the rest of the world, they just call him what he is: a nutbar.

I will admit I didn’t finish reading this one. It was due back at the library, and I didn’t feel like I’d miss anything just shutting the covers and never looking back.

Was I wrong, Trillin? Send me a memo. Tell me where the heart started beating in this one.
